We use a ceremony that is rooted in tradition (people have celebrated their marriages in our buildings for over 1000 years), yet which can be tailored to include modern music and readings to make an occasion special for you. God gave us the gift of marriage in creation and the coming together of a man and a woman in God’s house brings a depth and particular blessing to your union which we encourage everyone to explore.
Please take a moment to look at the Church of England website: www.yourchurchwedding.org. Here you can see some of the options for the wedding service, click on the links to listen to wedding music and hymns and to get ideas for your special day.
one of you, or one of your parents after you were born, should at some stage have lived in one of the Burnham's (not Deepdale) permanently for at least 6 months. Or you can be married here if your parents or grandparents were married in one of our churches, or were regular worshipers at any point for 6 months or more.
Alternatively, you can marry in one of our churches if you are a regular worshiping member of the congregation (at least once a month for six months). You do not need to be baptised to be married here, although we would hope that as you discover more about the Christian faith you would consider baptism.
There are also other ways to qualify, so if you are interested in exploring getting married in one of the Burnham churches, please do contact us directly for an initial conversation.
